Orange Cocoa: Our Sustainability Commitment

Commitment Statement

We are building a cocoa value chain that goes beyond compliance and into genuine transformation, one that improves livelihoods, raises the standard of our cocoa, and protects the environments and communities that make our work possible.

Our three pillars; Better Cocoa, Better Life, and Better Planet, are the lens through which we make every sourcing decision, design every farmer programme, and shape every operational choice.

We invest in people because thriving farmers produce exceptional cocoa. We invest in quality because it is the clearest expression of integrity. And we invest in the planet because without healthy landscapes, none of this endures.

We do not measure our success only in volume or revenue. We measure it in the livelihoods strengthened, the land protected, and the trust earned across every community we work in and every partner we serve.

This is the standard we hold ourselves to and the progress we will report on openly.

Our Pillar Commitments

Better Cocoa

Raising quality and productivity, sustainably.

We commit to improving productivity, quality, and long‑term resilience across our smallholder cocoa supply chain by investing directly in farmer skills, planting material, and quality infrastructure.

By 2040, we will:

  • Train 100,000 cocoa farmers in good agricultural and post‑harvest practices through Orange Cocoa farmer training programmes.
  • Establish 3 regional cocoa quality testing hubs to raise and verify quality standards across our sourcing regions.
  • Distribute 1,000,000 improved hybrid cocoa seedlings to help farmers renew ageing farms and increase yields sustainably.

These actions are how we turn “Better Cocoa” from an idea into better beans, better incomes, and more reliable supply for our customers.

Better Life

Strengthening farmers, families, and communities.

We commit to improving the wellbeing, resilience, and economic stability of cocoa‑growing families and communities in all our sourcing regions.

By 2040, we will:

  • Run a Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System (CLMRS) that ensures 100% of identified children at risk of, or engaged in, child labour receive and complete an approved remediation plan within 12 months.
  • Establish 350 Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) to help farmers and their families save, access small loans, and manage shocks.
  • Implement community‑led development projects in 300 cocoa communities, focusing on locally identified priorities such as education, water, health, or basic infrastructure.

Through Better Life, we want cocoa to support dignified, stable lives—not just harvest seasons.

Better Planet

Protecting ecosystems and building climate resilience.

We commit to protecting natural ecosystems and building a climate‑resilient cocoa supply chain that is compatible with a deforestation‑free future.

Our long‑term goals include:

  • Planting 300,000 shade trees on cocoa farms by 2040 to promote regenerative, climate‑smart cocoa production.
  • Reducing our Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2035, and achieving net‑zero operational emissions by 2050, while reducing Scope 3 emissions by 50% by 2050.
  • Ensuring that 100% of the cocoa volumes we source are traceable to verified deforestation‑free land by 2050.

Better Planet is how we safeguard the forests and farmlands that cocoa, and cocoa communities, depend on.

Our Pledge

We pledge to source responsibly, empower every farmer we work with, and protect the fields under our care, because Better Life, Better Cocoa, and Better Planet is not just a promise we make; it is a standard we intend to keep.
