Sunbeth Global Concepts has been recognised as the Africa Cocoa Fair Trading and Sustainability Champion by the Cocoa Farmers Alliance Association of Africa (COFAAA) at the inaugural Africa Cocoa Summit and Awards, held in Accra, Ghana.
The remarkable award acknowledges Sunbeth’s commitment to promoting ethical production practices, empowering farmers, and driving sustainability across the African cocoa value chain. As the only private sector player in the agricultural commodities sector honoured with an award at the ceremony, this recognition attests to Sunbeth Global Concepts' exceptional contribution to ethical sourcing, farmer empowerment, and the advancement of sustainable cocoa development across Africa.
The two-day summit, themed “Building a Sustainable Africa Cocoa Ecosystem: Unlocking Economic Potentials and Driving Inclusive Growth,” convened industry stakeholders, policymakers, and farmers to discuss pressing issues including market volatility, farmer income, climate resilience, and traceability in the era of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
Speaking during the awards presentation, Comrade Adegoke Adeola, Global President of COFAAA, commended Sunbeth Global Concepts and other awardees for their contributions to the growth and sustainability of Africa’s cocoa industry. He noted:
“These institutions are not just recipients of awards; they are symbols of Africa’s determination to lead its own transformation. They embody the spirit of unity and excellence that this summit represents.”
Responding to the recognition on behalf of Sunbeth, Oyinkansola Owoyemi, Sustainability Director at Sunbeth Global Concepts, expressed gratitude and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to farmer welfare and sustainability, stating:
“It is an honour to receive the COFAAA Award in Ghana. Beyond recognition, it’s a reminder of why we do this work, to strengthen value chains, support farmers, and ensure sustainability becomes the standard across board.”
Sunbeth Global Concepts has long prioritized initiatives aimed at improving farmers’ livelihoods through capacity-building programs, farmer education, and partnerships that enhance transparency and traceability. The company’s efforts reflect its belief that a sustainable cocoa ecosystem must start with fair compensation, responsible sourcing, and shared prosperity for farming communities.
The recognition by COFAAA is a validation of Sunbeth’s efforts and broader vision to support Africa’s cocoa industry through innovation, sustainability, and empowerment, ensuring that African farmers not only produce the world’s finest cocoa but also share equitably in its value.
