Our Farmers' Voice: How Sunbeth Is Taking Agricultural Education to the Airwaves

Share

There is a quiet gap at the heart of Nigerian agriculture. Nigeria is one of Africa's largest cocoa producers, yet the quality and yield often fall short of what the land and the farmer are truly capable of delivering. The problem is not effort; it is access to timely, practical knowledge.

Better knowledge produces better cocoa. Better cocoa means improved income for farming families, stronger supply chains, and a more competitive Nigerian agricultural sector on the global stage. To bridge this gap, Sunbeth Global Concepts launched Our Farmers' Voice on 5th June 2026.

The Programme at a Glance

  • Station: 88.9 Adaba FM, Ondo State
  • Broadcast: Every Friday, 5:00 PM – 5:30 PM
  • Reach: Tens of thousands of smallholder farmers across Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, and Kwara State

Our Farmers' Voice is a practical, farmer-first knowledge platform built around the real challenges producers face. Delivered mainly in Yoruba, the program bypasses the need for internet connectivity, reaching farming households directly over the airwaves when the week's farm work is done. Each 30-minute episode features expert interviews, multi-voice panel discussions, and farmer spotlight sharing lived experiences.

What Farmers Will Learn

The program's curriculum is technically validated by sustainability experts in collaboration with researchers.

Key Topics Covered

Safe Input Use

Approved fertilisers, integrated pest management, and PPE.

Quality & Post-Harvest

Fermentation, drying, moisture targets, and price links.

Farm Management

Pruning, replanting, shade management, and record-keeping.

Traceability & Markets

Rainforest Alliance certification, EUDR compliance, and GPS mapping.

Empowering the Origin Producer for Quality Export

Our Farmers' Voice is a core execution commitment is to empower origin producers with the education and knowledge needed to harness the ideal climate at origin, maximizing both the quality and quantity of their yields. By investing directly in the origin producer, we ensure our supply chain remains resilient, traceable, and fully aligned with global compliance demands like the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

A weekly radio programme might seem like a simple intervention. But knowledge that reaches a farmer on a Friday evening and changes what they do on Saturday morning multiplied across thousands of farms is exactly what moves the needle on Nigerian cocoa quality and supply chain sustainability.

Building a deforestation-free, future-fit agricultural sector requires robust collaboration across the entire value chain.
